If you are needing a new breakfast idea different than the usual, these quick to whip up sourdough discard German pancakes are sure to be a good one to put on the rotation! I was able assemble and cook these bad boys in less than 30 minutes. They were consumed in even less amount of time.
Ingredients You Need:
- 5 tbsps butter
- 6 large eggs
- ¾ c milk
- ½ c sourdough discard
- ¾ c flour
- Vanilla Extract
- Salt
Topping Suggestions:
- Maple Syrup
- Powdered Sugar
- Berries
- Whipped Cream
Tools You’ll Need:
- 9X13 Glass Casserole Dish
- Bowl
- Blender (I like this one)
Instructions for German Pancakes:
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place 5 tbsps of butter in the casserole dish, then place in the dish in the oven to melt the butter.
While the butter is melting start making the batter for your sourdough discard German pancakes, combine eggs, milk, sourdough discard, flour, vanilla, and salt into your blender. (I like to use a bowl and an immersion blender)
Blend until well incorporated.
Pour batter mixture into the dish with the hot butter, place back in the oven.
Cook for 18-24 minutes.
The top should not be eggy when done
Top your beautiful, sourdough German pancakes with your favorite toppings. Here I topped with my favorite maple syrup, and powdered sugar. I decided to top with whipped cream after the photo was taken, and it was amazingly delicious too.
